Changing your cleaning company is a big decision, and one that seems like a lot of hard work. From the research, to the meetings, negotiations and the stress of what happens to your current cleaning operatives.
There are many reasons why you might be looking at changing your commercial cleaning company, including poor management or the company you’re using is going under.
It’s highly possible that you’re happy with your current cleaning operatives and would rather keep them even when you change suppliers because they know your business location, and have a good relationship with your own staff.
The problem is that TUPE can seem like a minefield if you’ve never had to handle it before.
At Monthind, we take this stress off your hands and will handle the whole TUPE process for you, ensuring that all staff are transferred with minimal involvement from you.
What is TUPE?
TUPE stands for Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 1981.
Effectively, it’s a process that protects the rights of employees when either a business is sold or, in the case of Monthind, the contract is switched to a new cleaning provider.
It means that when employees are moved from one company to another – for example, one cleaning company to Monthind – they keep their current terms of employment contract.
Meaning that their hourly wage, holiday entitlement and length of service are preserved, so all that really changes is the business they work for.
How Monthind approaches TUPE
We can appreciate that learning that their employer is changing will be a difficult time for cleaning staff, so we want to ensure the process is as easy and stress-free as possible for both you and them.
This is why we have a transparent staff transfer process that handles everything for you.
Full, in-house HR team
Being one of the region’s largest commercial cleaning companies that employs hundreds of staff, we handle all employee transfers via our fully qualified HR department. They will ensure all legal compliance during the process.
Transparent consultation
Before your contract with Monthind starts, we’ll visit your cleaning operatives at your business location to hold transparent consultation meetings with them. In these meetings, we will introduce them to our company, ensure they understand their jobs are secure, and allow them to ask any questions they have and they can decide whether or not they wish to transfer to Monthind.
Completing the transfer
After the consultations, we will start the process of completing the transfer. This includes checking all right-to-work documentation and issuing new contracts under the Monthind banner.
Investment and retraining
Whilst in theory, there will be limited changes and cleaning operatives will continue to work as normal, we need to ensure that their processes and equipment are in line with the Monthind brand standards. We will provide all cleaning operatives with Monthind uniforms, a full induction, any necessary training e and ensure they understand all essential information.
Management support
We won’t just transfer your employees and leave you to it. We have a full onboarding process when you join, with regular check-ups, and you will have access to a dedicated account manager for any concerns or queries.
